Hidden agendas at the BBC

The BBC, as a public service broadcaster, should be immune from the commercial pressures of its rivals to suppress or distort the truth. However, as we saw over Andrew Gilligan and the dodgy dossier (on Iraq's phantom WMD) and during the Israeli Defence Force massacre of civilians in Gaza  (2008/9), the BBC is not immune from institutional bias. In addition, many of BBC reporters and producers are compromised by commercial interests which inevitably have a bearing on their objectivity.

The BBC's reporting on climate change has been stridently partisan, in spite of the prevailing uncertainty and dispute among scientists over man-made CO2's culpability. A secret BBC meeting in 2006, convened by global warming activists, led to the suppression of evidence and information which contradicted the man-made global warming hypothesis.

A six-year freedom of information battle, by a private citizen, to get  the BBC to disclose who attended the meeting is now subject to legal action.

Who were the SECRET 28 who ended all climate debate at the BBC?
'Campaigners, NGOs, communications types - and scientists'
