Fast track trade agreements

"Fast track" is specific to the US where Presidential power is (theoretically) held in check by Congress. Fast Track will allow President Obama to negotiate trade agreements in secret and without reference to Congress.

Clearly Fast Track is anti-democratic and indicative of the kleptocracy which runs the world. In Europe, no specific Fast Track authority is needed because the EU Commission, aided and abetted by its corporate "benefactors", has the permanent ability to fast track trade agreements for the benefit of the City of London and the banks

The City, the banks and the EU – all in it together By Tom Lines

Civil Society usually refers to non-commercial and non-governmental bodies. However, the EU has stretched the definition of Civil Society to cover corporate lobbyist entities to squeeze out opposition from bona fide Civil Society groups.

So what is the purpose of these secret, anti-democratic negotiations? To lever open economies to corporate exploitation, attacking healthcare, social and environmental protection. In short, TTIP and TPP are weapons of oppression and wealth extraction.

Why the secret treaty?

Hi Arvind, as frustrating as it may seem there has been progress in perception and understanding since the eruption of Occupy two years ago. In brief, we need to educate and agitate. Talk to friends, family, work colleagues, people on the bus etc. Share the information seldom disclosed in the media. As people become empowered through understanding, change will follow.

We live in unprecedented times in terms of access to information and ability communicate. More than 50% of Critical Thinking's audience is overseas. More and more groups and individuals are coming together around the principles of land, money and labour.

Remember Margaret Mead: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.

Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

There is a massive amount of evidence that our economic and governance structures have been taken over and emasculated for the benefit of the 1%. The issue is what can we do recover our institutions when the Legal and Police/Security services are under the control of corrupt Politicians? The Occupy movements around the world are struggling, with low level achievements, which suits the establishment.
It has been said that this is a slow revolution.
It is too slow to achieve much in my lifetime!
Any ideas?
