TTIP must be stopped

Activist groups and citizens are waking up to the dangers of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) which offers little in terms of benefits other than to global corporations and bankers. Whatever nonsense is claimed about the need for this agreement in terms of growth and prosperity, so called "free trade agreements" (FTAs) are weapons of wealth extraction and oppression.

TTIP is anti-democratic and will ensure the EU (and consequently every country within it) is run for the benefit of corporations rather than people. It will open the door to GMO foods, chlorinated chicken, hormone injected beef, fracking, toxic chemicals in cosmetics, wholesale privatisation of healthcare (many Americans have no access to healthcare) and other public services. Hard won social, health and environmental protections will be dismantled.

In America it will allow banks to subvert the already pitiful banking regulation put in place in the aftermath of the sub-prime crisis, opening the door to yet more financial fraud (following on from market rigging in commodities, LIBOR and FOREX, money-laundering for drug cartels and proscribed terrorist organisations etc.)

Arm yourself with knowledge and challenge politicians, trade unions and others who parrot the meaningless mantras about the illusory benefits for the economy. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has been in force for 20 years. Contrary to all the claims made, it has destroyed over a million jobs across the US, Canada and Mexico and driven millions into poverty (47.5 million US citizens rely on food stamps to survive - even those with jobs; wages have been ground down, forcing people to hold down multiple jobs). NAFTA has made only the rich and corporations richer which is why many Americans are vehemently opposed to the other big trade agreement currently being negotiated in secret, the TransPacific Partnership (TPP), with countries in Asia and Australasia.

This is a class war and as Warren Buffet, one of the richest men on the planet, acknowledged: it's his class which is winning.

People around the world can stop these agreements but we need to pressure our governments to reject them. With European elections next month, there is the opportunity to reject any candidate supporting TTIP

Each and every one of us are paying our government through our Taxes to give our Country away-this through the treacherous proposed EU Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) where the EU speaks for ALL the Country’s in it to the USA. Yet not just about FOOD TRADE, which many may think at first, but TRADE in ALL matters. Everything and anything you can think of-for all time. For the first time in all the years I have been Researching EU Documents, this is the first time I have come across EU Documents that are EU Restricted. I have never come across that before. So-a very diffent kind of EU is emerging.

Plus once again, what on earth will be the point of having a British Government when they cannot speak for themselves?
It doesn’t just stop there though. Dated 10.3.2014 Top European lawmakers from Germany's Green Party leaked a confidential document last Friday (7 March) regarding talks over the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), arguing that the disclosure is in the "public interest” and for the "protection of democracy”.

On Friday (7 March), high-ranking German MEPs from the European Greens leaked a confidential document from the Council of Ministers regarding the ongoing TTIP negotiations.
"TTIP threatens to take away democracy's means for social and environmental management of the internal market," Green MEP Sven Giegold warned, defending the decision to publish the document.

Hi Anne, I agree although the idea that the UK government (Labour or Tory) serves the interests of the UK people is also an illusion. Politicians push hard for privatisation of the NHS and other public services because many are financially incentivised to do so.

The first link in the article above will take you to an explanation of stateless power which dominates the globe. Governments dance to their tune. Our current so called democracy is a sham.

There will be no point in having a NATIONAL Government, if foreigners always "SPEAK" for and on behalf of them.

National Governments and Parliaments have made themselves redundant especially as the present Government here in the UK have installed the extra Layer of EU Governance-the EU REGIONS.

Please note the TTIP is a TREATY and the people should of course have a SAY before it is ratified. If however they cannot because our National Government have given the EU the RIGHT to speak of all in this Country-there is absolutely no point in having a British Government at all is there?
