At the time of writing (August 2014) Critical Thinking has been running for just over two and a half years. It has evolved beyond the original concept of a collaborative project to understand the world, examining the popular narratives and holding them up to scrutiny. Critical Thinking is engaging and sharing with other activist and academic groups in the UK and beyond while developing a framework for a new economic system. More recently, we've been exploring a Systems Thinking approach to Political Economy.
The website receives about 1500 unique visitors per month of which about 45% are regular visitors. 300 people subscribe to Daily Pickings and many contribute articles. Google has harvested data about the visitors because the analytics can breakdown the Critical Thinking audience by location, gender and age.
53% of visitors are UK based and 16% in the US. We also have more than a handful of regular visitors from Australia, India, Brazil, Canada, Netherlands, Spain, Germany and France together with many individuals from a variety of other countries.
The gender balance is encouraging at 54% male and 46% female.
What is surprising (and gratifying) is the number of relatively young people visiting the site. If google analytics are to be believed, over 61% of the audience is aged between 18 and 34 while 89% are under age 55.
